Professional Art Studies

OVERVIEW AND ENROLMENT INFORMATION

Riding on the art teaching experience of the School over the past two decades (since 2000) and the professional connection of the Hong Kong Arts Centre over the past four decades (since 1977), the Professional Art Studies courses are specially designed for those who hope to explore cultural topics and gain sophisticated insights about professional art practices as well as the contemporary art ecology.

Many of our students are:

  • Working adults who are passionate about art
  • Professionals in other areas
  • Art practitioners (including artists & art administrators) and
  • Visual Art teachers

From theory to hands-on experience, from historical incidents to state-of-the-art ideas, from outsiders’ queries to insiders’ knowledge, the courses are conducted with a flexible and accessible approach to cover a wide range of artistic contents and to cater for the study needs of the city people nowadays.  There is no assessment, examination or assignment associated with the courses.

The courses are instructed by professionals in the local art scene, including lecturers of the School who are all established practitioners in the field.
(Unless otherwise stated, the medium of instruction will mainly be Cantonese supplemented with English.)

All Professional Art Studies courses are conducted at the Main Campus of Hong Kong Art School (10/F, Hong Kong Arts Centre, 2 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong), unless otherwise stated.
