Exhibition Statement
Each artistic creation is like a train journey, carving out its own unique path on the tracks.
The five artists featured in this group exhibition — Cheung Jenny, Chiu Kar Man, Chung Cheuk Wing, Chwe Shuk Fong, and Mok Fai — first met three years ago while studying for a Higher Diploma in Fine Art at the Hong Kong Art School. After graduation, they each embarked on individual explorations, experiencing different life situations that have shaped their unique creative trajectories.
The “Mind The Gap” exhibition takes the artists’ current creative states as its central theme. Just as train passengers, some pause briefly on the platform for deep reflection, some have turned towards new paths to explore the unknown, while others steadily proceed on their established tracks. These “gaps” in their life journeys have become opportunities for the artists to re-examine their lives and artistic practices, inviting the audience to experience their unique inner landscapes.
The exhibition starts from the artists’ graduation works from a year ago but focuses on the dialogue between creative growth and transformation, turning life insights into visual language, and showcasing creative explorations and self-transcendence.he same building but in a different place, a year later from our graduation exhibition, we return to the starting point — the most familiar yet strange area.
