Prophecy of Contemporary Ceramics – by Alumni of Hong Kong Art School
Art connects people’s thoughts, it bridges the present with the ancient and the future. The development of ceramic art, from its early form, which focused more on function and craftsmanship, to its present form, which is also aesthetically accomplished and is occupying a notable role in contemporary art, signifies related notions.
Hong Kong Art School (HKAS) was proud to participate again in this Asia’s leading international fine art fair, and this was the seventh year for our School to take part as the exclusive Education Partner of the fair. The ceramic artists participating in this exhibition were all alumni of the School. Ceramics is the medium of their art-making, they explored different aspects of this medium and incorporate them into their works, and they responded to the contemporary world with ceramics artworks that allowed diversity and give rise to endless possibilities. Their works always brought in new perspectives and eye-opening surprises to the audiences. To a certain extent, they also demonstrated the uniqueness featured in the learning and teaching process of HKAS, and they always radiated a distinctive ambience developed through time by HKAS alumni.
