As a part of the Community Partnership Programme 2020 sponsored by HSBC, the project “Precious Moment – Community Arts Education Project” brought together trained young ambassadors and elderly to experience Chinese Painting and Ceramics. This project enhanced the personal well-being of senior citizens and youth through art-making, with an exhibition that recognized their talents and shares happiness with the public. It brought out positive energy and built up a more harmonious community.
With social conflicts and pandemic prevailing, senior citizens whose level of stress might always be underestimated needed more emotional support to cope with negative feelings. Trained young ambassadors had been assisting elderly in art-making so as to reinforce their weakening bondage. Utilizing simple tools and natural materials, new perspectives and values developed through art had eased their emotional burdens and contributed to create positive energy.
The exhibition featured around 40 pieces of Chinese paintings and ceramic wares by the elderly of Hong Kong Christian Mutual Improvement Society Chuang Chung Wen Social Centre For the Elderly and young ambassadors.
