Hong Kong Art School was thrilled to partner with 1a Space to present a joint exhibition for 5 recent graduates of our Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) programme, who were also the 1a Space Awardees in 2022.
Chan King-long, Fung Wing-yan, Lam Hoi-yi, Lam Yan-tung Bonnie, Ngai So-fan had graduated for almost a year and have consolidated gradually their distinct creative context and expression, taking the form of painting, photography, ceramics, installation and performance art. The title ‘Bon Voyage’ was heartfelt wishes sent by the curators Chan Sai-lok and Rachel Cheung (our BAFA Programme Coordinator) to congratulate them on completing their studies and to embolden the artists to venture and explore. A bold adventure required wisdom and courage to probe unexplored possibilities and expand career opportunities; whereas an exploration limits not only to geographical or national boundaries, it set out to break through familiar ideas and forms as well as accumulate life experiences. Through this exhibition, we hoped to introduce these five emerging artists from Hong Kong to the industry and the public and witness their growth together.
