Join us for hands-on experience in the art of Jinshi carving! Dive into the world of clay, lost-wax casting, puzzle seals, the four spiritual animals seal, the Buddha hand seal, and the intricate interlaced seal. Welcoming students of all levels, this course uses a balanced approach of theory and practice. Each session kicks off with around 40 minutes of cultural and aesthetic insights, setting the stage for the instructor’s demonstrations and experiential creation that follow.

Tutor
Thomas Kong Hoi Kan
Thomas received his BA in Visual Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University and MA in Cultural Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The winner of the 17th Hong Kong Young Art Award (Visual Arts) of Hong Kong Art Development Council.
He now works full-time as a seal artist, combining the idea of modern calligraphy and conceptual art with his work. Taking Han culture as blueprint and orienting at present-day human values, his practice manifests a notion of contemporary seal art. He has been supported by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and other social organisations to host solo and group exhibitions. His solo exhibitions include Rhapsody of Paradox (2022) and Sound of Silence (2021).
His works have been collected by corporate and individual collectors. Other than exhibitions, Thomas also hosts workshops, talks and art demonstrations at different organisations and universities.
