‘Simple’ black and white sketching isn’t so simple to make stunning. By grasping pencil and charcoal techniques as well as the relationship between objects and their 3D representations on paper, you’ll discover how a sketch can deliver a breathtaking impact.
Suitable for anyone (grouped according to level of participants).
Through its internship format, this all-level course will help you to master the basics of sketching using pencil and charcoal. Learn to analyse the relationship between physical objects and their representation on flat drawing paper in three-dimensional space. Understand the nuances of shape, texture, and light treatment to bring your sketches to life.

Tutor
Wong Loi
Wong Loi has been engaged in painting and teaching for over 30 years. His works have been exhibited around the world, including United States, Australia, Taiwan – and he was selected for the Hong Kong Artists Biennale in 1979 and 1981.
Born in Hong Kong, Wong Loi founded the Art Loi’s Studio in To Kwa Wan in 1979. In addition to his art school, he taught drawing, watercolour and oil painting at the Hong Kong Art Centre for many years. To further promote different painting ideas and techniques, he also developed a new school of watercolour and plastic colour abstract painting courses at San Zhuo Tang (Wan Chai) in 2011.
Wong Loi has been an active volunteer in the community over the years. Besides mentoring students, he has also worked tirelessly to bring the joy of painting to children with Down syndrome and ADHD.
