Lingnan Painting: The Best of East and West
This is an introductory course to the Lingnan School of Painting
– It is designed to accommodate the needs of beginners and former students. Instructions will include both fundamental and advanced level techniques of the Lingnan School of Painting and the course contents cover different subjects in flowers, birds and landscape
This is a continuous course suitable for both beginners and former students
Students will be informed of the materials needed in the first lesson.
Tutor
Liu Meng Kuan
Born in Hong Kong in 1950, Liu Meng Kuan studied painting with Yang ShanShen, a master of the Lingnan School, in 1977 and began his painting profession in 1983. His first solo exhibition was held at the United States Library in Hong Kong in 1986. Over the years, he has held solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, America and Mainland China to promote the art of the Lingnan School.
In 2019, he had a solo exhibition organised by the Macao Museum of Art. His works have also been selected for the Global Ink Painting Exhibition in Hong Kong for two times.
In 2004, he founded the Mu Feng Art Studio, and in 2012, he founded the Mu Feng Art Association, and over the years, he has held painting courses at the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Arts Centre to promote the art of the Lingnan School.
