COURSE FEATURES
This course serves as a continuation of “Experiencing Cultural Theory Through Art” & “(Re-)experiencing Cultural Theory Through Art.” Nevertheless, no prior knowledge is needed. It keeps on discussing the relationship between art and theory. Major cultural theorists are introduced through their reading of selected artworks. Reading art as a cultural text, this course examines it in modern, postmodern, gender, and urban contexts. Photographs, architecture, film, video, painting, sculpture, poems, and essays are used throughout the course.

STUDENTS’ COMMENTS
This is my third course of the series, through which Dr. Fong has been developing very interesting insights among the relationship between cultural theories and arts.
I have been most impressed by his lively presentations and most of all their relevancy to everyday lives. As a dweller in this overly fast-paced capitalist city for years, I treasure much the inspiration and ambience provided by Dr. Fong in pursuing other valuable possibilities for our hearts and minds.
