Black and White Film Photography Class (Beginner)
Photography has transformed significantly with the rapid development of modern technology, yet black and white photography retains its inimitable charm. This is because black and white images can evoke a sense of doubt and detachment from reality and non-reality, inspiring awe and contemplation. Course participants will gain a foundational understanding of black and white photography through knowledge of photography history, shooting techniques, and darkroom skills.

- Characteristics of Film and Photographic Paper
- Basic Techniques for Shooting Black and White Film
- Basic Black and White Film Development
- Basic Black and White Film Printing and Enlarging
- Darkroom & Outdoor Practice
Students are required to bring their own film cameras. Outdoor section will be arranged, and students will be informed of the details before lesson. Date and time of outdoor section is for reference only and may change depending on the weather conditions.

So Hing Keung
So graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours) in Photographic Design from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He has worked as lecturer in Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Art School, and he is currently a part-time lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts, Chinese University of Hong Kong.
He has held numerous solo and group exhibitions around the globe since 1980s including Paris, Berlin, New York, Toronto, Russia, Vienna, Mainland China and Hong Kong, to name a few. His most recent solo exhibitions are The Hue of Hong Kong (2022) and Hello! How are you? (2019) and group exhibitions are Desire to Fly (2023) and ACC 60th Anniversary Exhibition (2022). Among his many accolades, he was awarded Photographic Fellowship from the Asian Cultural Council in 1995, one-year Fellowship for Artistic Development and Award Visual Artist of the Year by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 1998 and 2023. He won the Prize of Excellence at the Hong Kong Art Biennial 2001 and the Judges and seven Gold Awards by the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers in 1997 and 1999.
So’s works are collected by public and private collectors including Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum and City University Hong Kong, and have been auctioned successfully at Sotheby’s. He has involved in art and photography projects with international brands, such as Louis Vuitton, United Colours of Benetton, Fujifilm and Olympus.
