A Brief Artistic Introduction to Feminism
In “Sexual/Textual Politics”, Toril Moi distinguishes between French feminism and its British and American counterparts.
This course delves into the French perspective, focusing on the potential of women and celebrating femininity over traditional concepts of gender equality. In contrast, British and American feminism stresses differences and challenges the notion of identity — particularly through literature, theatre, film, and art. This course will cover the works of influential theorists like Julia Kristeva, Hélène Cixous, Luce Irigaray, and others.
