About the Programme

This is an exclusive summer programme specially designed for children & teenagers, with an aim of providing them with an all-rounded and a memorable art learning experience during summer time. This programme exquisitely encompasses Literary elements (Poetry), Performing Arts techniques (Applied Theatre) and Visual Arts making process.

Starting from a poem by T. S. Elliot, "The Song of the Jellicles"*, students will learn to build up their own characters for a play through different applied theatre conventions. At the same time, they will learn to design and create functional art pieces, which may serve as props or costumes, for the characters they came up with. At the end of the program, a short play, called The Kittens, will be produced with the stories students constructed and the functional artworks they made during the lessons. For this finale performance, students will also be able to perform in a professional amphitheatre setting at the McAulay Studio of Hong Kong Arts Centre! Parents and friends are welcome to watch the performance and share this fruit of harvest with the students as well!

*"The Song of the Jellicles" is also an inspiring source for the internationally renowned musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cats.
